Sobre Raphael
I started my dance journey in the 90s in Germany with breakdance and popping, moving on to ballroom standard and latin in my teens, then picked up social dances in my early thirties, starting with Salsa, then branching out into Bachata, Swing, Zouk, and Tango, finally arriving at Kizomba which has been my focus ever since 2018. I'm a creative and playful dancer who focuses on the shared experience, musicality, and flow rather than on strict routines, figures, or acrobatics. I often add fusion and crossover elements to my dances depending on who I dance with and what other styles they know. I have been teaching Kizomba in Barcelona since 2023 after teaming up with Judith Thetis, with whom you can also book classes. I am hosting regular free dance socials in the Ciutadella park where you can also ask for a free introduction and my dance partner and I have been booked on various events since, as well as organizing smaller scale events locally.

My approach to teaching is to focus on fundamental concepts and rules from which all else follows. The essence of the dance style so to say. I then guide my students to explore the implications of these concepts and rules and discover organically and playfully new sets of moves and maneuvers as we progress. Students who already have previous experience with other dances will find that I let them leverage that experience and help them transition their skills to kizomba as I myself dance virtually all social dances there are. TL;DR: - Learn Technique fast - Gain confidence fast - Develop your musicality fast I take an individual didactic approach with each student for private classes and prefer small groups over large ones as it allows me to tailor the experience to each person's needs.
