Yenny era una de mis primeras profesoras de español cuando llegué a Medellín en septiembre de 2022. Mi primera semana de clases con otra profe no fue nada fácil. Me costaba mucho expresarme y tenía dificultades para entender lo que se enseñaba, especialmente el subjuntivo. Me sentí frustrada y al borde de las lágrimas.

Afortunadamente, en mi segunda semana conocí a Yenny, y todo cambió. Terminé tomando siete semanas consecutivas de clases con ella, lo que estableció una base sólida para mi aprendizaje del español. En ese entonces, hablaba una mezcla de español e inglés porque me faltaba el vocabulario para expresarme completamente en español. La capacidad de Yenny para entender lo que intentaba decir y ayudarme a traducir mis pensamientos fue invaluable.

Lo que más me encantó de su enseñanza fue lo naturales que se sentían nuestras conversaciones. Yenny siempre ajustaba el ritmo de la clase a mi nivel y sabía cuándo desafiarme para ayudarme a progresar sin abrumarme. Su paciencia y habilidad para explicar temas complejos hicieron que el aprendizaje fuera más manejable y agradable.

Además, Yenny no solo se destacó por su paciencia, sino que también sabía conectar de manera efectiva con sus estudiantes. Para mi, un buen profe es aquel que no solo repite información, sino que establece un vínculo genuino que facilita el aprendizaje.

I have been studying Spanish for many years, including university-level courses, but I’ve always struggled with traditional classroom settings. Learning with Yenny has been an entirely different experience - by far the most Spanish I’ve ever learned!

Yenny is an incredibly trustworthy teacher who creates a comfortable and supportive learning environment. She tailored her lessons to my individual pace, ensuring I felt confident in each step of my progress. What really set Yenny apart was her use of debate and discussion as a core part of our lessons. This method not only kept me engaged, but it also helped me practice speaking in a way that felt natural and interactive.

Yenny's explanations were also always very clear, and she took the time to help me understand the grammar behind the language, which was something I had always struggled with. She has a deep knowledge of Spanish grammar and was able to break it down in a way that finally made sense to me.

I would highly recommend Yenny to anyone serious about improving their Spanish. She’s patient, clear and truly invested in her students' progress!

Last year, Yenny was my spanish teacher for a couple of weeks which was awesome.

She has a habit of talking very clear, and adjusts to your Spanish level. Meaning she talks in a way that you understand everything she is saying, and occasionally uses words you dont know. However, because of the context, you automatically understand this new word and you steadily enrich your vocabulary!

The lessons were also a lot of fun because we would discuss a wide range of topics. e.g. geology, myths and legends, history etcetera.

Lastly, she gives personalized homework (exercises, podcasts, reading material) to help you with your own weaknesses.

Yenny is a great teacher. I had several Spanish teachers in the past... but SHE is the one who taught me the right basics to take my learning to another level. Her way of teaching is empathetic, attentive and fun. Whether in a group or 1-1, she adapts her methods to the specific needs of the student. Thanks to that I was able to jump levels in a very short time. I highly recommend Yenny. It is a privilege to study with her.

I’ve taken group and private lessons with Yenny a number of times over the last couple years in Medellin. I was working on Spanish levels A2.3-B1.2, so a lot of conversation time was included in the lessons- she always asks thought provoking questions. These conversations helped me become more comfortable using Spanish to express my opinions on current issues and speak more easily in a natural dialogue. She is able to clearly explain grammar themes and is patient when I needed to re-review anything. Yenny is energetic, patient, kind and has a great sense of humor. I worked with quite a few Spanish teachers over the years and my classes with Yenny have been the most enjoyable.

I spent 3 weeks in Medellin and had private classes with Yenny. If you want to understand the subjuntivos in Spanish, she’s the one to go. She’s a great teacher and I highly recommend her!
