Sobre Helena
In my internship I have been taking notes of all the kind of errors and mistakes that the students and teachers had made during these sessions. I have 14 sheets of papers with all the errors that they have made. I needed to collect them because one of the main things that my tutor asked me to do was to give her all the typical errors that non-native speakers make, it does not matter if it is when talking or writing. But I have noticed that the most common ones are made when trying to pronounce some words. After doing this, I have sent through the virtual campus some of the data that I collected, one belongs to the fourth year group, and the other one from the second year one. In both classes I had to help the students when they had any kind of problem with pronunciation, trying to say something in English or with the activities in general.
Another important thing that I had to do was to correct 22 essays that the fourth year group had written. It was a bit complicated, and it took me more than ten hours to finish everything. I highlighted the things that they had wrong, the things that did not make sense, the Spanish transfers, etc. I gave each one of them a little feedback on their essays on how they could improve their writing expression.
I have also been teaching phonetics for the fourth year group on Mondays from 19:00 to 20:00. I have given a total of 5 classes to this group. There was another colleague doing these practices and lessons with me. We prepared the classes and shared our thoughts about what kind of things were the ones that could make them improve their pronunciation. The students needed these classes because their level of pronunciation was not good, and are going to have an oral exam in which they have to say some words in English out loud. In the first class, I explained some sounds with which they were struggling at first (for example: the schwa). We also transcribed the words that they had been pronouncing in wrong ways during class: we wrote a word on the blackboard, and they had to tell us the phoneme that they thought that was the right one.
For the second class I gave them a lesson about phonetics. Their professor had given them some words that they had to transcribe; this was perfect because I had good material which I could use in my classes. In this class I also clearly explained to them the schwa and gave them a sheet of paper with the most common cases in which this phoneme occurs. In the third class I prepared a kahoot in which there were some of the most common errors that they had made in the essays and things that I had explained about phonetics. The positions that were occupied by the first three students were given a prize (chocolate), and they had fun doing it. After this, I had prepared an exam for them, I had to ask them some questions and words, and they had to pronounce them correctly in English, and also transcribe them.
For the fourth class I prepared a PowerPoint presentation about phonemes. How sounds and vowels are pronounced and the slides also included some drawings in order to help them to understand the phonemes better. After this, there was another little exam, but this time was different. I took each one of them to a separate part of the class and I started asking them about some words in Spanish that they had to translate and pronounce correctly in English. I could notice how their pronunciation seemed to improve. In the last session, I prepared a super kahoot (with my colleague’s help) which included all the things that they should know about phonemes, transcriptions and sounds until that moment (there was also a prize for the first three positions). After the kahoot, we started transcribing some words that they had on the virtual campus. When they were telling us the phonemes, we could tell that they had improved in phonetics at least a little.
Another thing that I have had to do was to stay on my own with the Friday group and watch their oral presentations in English. I had to evaluate them and give them some feedback, I told them the things they were pronouncing wrong and the grammatical errors that they had made. It was a total of 14 groups, and I told them the things that caught my attention the most. In these classes I also had to do the multiple intelligences test and the European Language Portfolio.
I had to do a shared reflection with the professor that I am with on Fridays. We talked about the dynamic of the class, how some things could be improved, the things that I liked, the things that I did not. Also, how having this experience has changed my point of view of some things, languages, the module…
I have also done an objective self-appraisal about this experience. I had to evaluate myself, I have seen what has changed in my view of education, if I have done my job well and the things that I have improved.

I like to know what the student wants to learn the most, after that, I search all the materials and information I can on the internet, and then I prepare the lesson. I like to do creative things, like playing a kahoot. I like using games or songs, because I think that it is a very good way of learning a language. I always try my best to make the student understand what I am explaining, and I am very patient.
