Sobre Noel
My name is Noel Swords. I'm Irish, a native speaker of English, with 22 years' experience and over one hundred written recommendations from past students. I have taught English in Ireland, Brasil and in Italy.
English is learnt in five ways: reading, writing, speaking, listening, and revising. So I focus on these skills when teaching my students. Writing is optional in my lessons.
I don't give my students traditional homework. Instead, I teach them skills to make them more independent students. As you become more independent, you take more control of how you learn. This is the best way to maintain your motivation and interest in learning English.

The focus in the lessons is on speaking and reading. We read at the beginning of every lesson for no more than about ten minutes. We read and then we analyse the text for common expressions: phrasal verbs, collocations, etc.
Then we speak. As the student speaks, I correct mistakes: vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and so on. I type the corrections on the screen. After the lesson, the student revises this information.
Most importantly, correcting mistakes is only the beginning, meaning that I give my students feedback about HOW to learn, not only WHAT to learn. I teach my students skills. The more skills you learn, the more independent you become, the more control you can take of your learning, and the less you need me.
My lessons are not traditional grammar lessons. We do study grammar but my means of speaking. My students are active students who like speaking and reading in every lesson.
