  I speak Spanish fluently primarily because of my education and passion for the language, rather than my origins. While I didn't grow up speaking Spanish, my journey was fueled by my love for languages and my studies in translation, education, and interpretation. Having inspiring teachers along the way also played a huge role in my dedication to mastering Spanish.

• 2) Can you name a living, historical, or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

  One character that comes to mind is **Don Quijote** from *Don Quijote de la Mancha* by Miguel de Cervantes. He represents the idealistic and dream-driven nature often found in Spanish literature and culture. His adventures and challenges reflect key elements of Spanish history, tradition, and the human experience.

• 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition, or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

  One of my favorite phrases is "ojalá," which comes from Arabic and expresses hope or longing. I love how it encapsulates a deep wish or desire, showing the historical influence of the Moors on the Spanish language. It also reflects a beautiful aspect of the culture-a sense of hopefulness and faith.

• 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

  Speaking Spanish matters to me because it opens doors to communication with millions of people across the world. It also gives me access to a wealth of literature, culture, and history that enriches both my personal and professional life. Being able to share this with students is incredibly rewarding.

• 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language, and what can help the process of learning?

  One of the main difficulties is mastering the verb conjugations and tenses, as Spanish has many forms and irregular verbs. What helps is consistent practice and exposure. For learners, immersing themselves in conversations, media, and real-life situations where they can use the language helps overcome this challenge. Breaking down grammar into manageable parts and practicing with real-life examples makes it easier.

• 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

  During my translation studies, I remember working on a project where we had to translate a short story from English to Spanish. I realized that beyond simply translating words, I had to grasp the nuances of both cultures to make the translation work. This project showed me that language is not just about words-it's about understanding people and their contexts.

• 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

  Traveling to Spain significantly deepened my understanding of the language. Immersing myself in the culture-speaking with locals, experiencing regional dialects, and participating in everyday conversations-helped me fine-tune my fluency and cultural awareness. There's no substitute for being in the environment where the language is spoken.
