Sobre Sara
Children begin to gain confidence when communicating in English. I recreate stories that combine fantasy with everyday life, while ensuring they match the interests of children of this age. We start working on reading comprehension with the help of animated PowerPoint presentations. Oral interaction and communication is still the main focus. Soon they start to become aware of how the language works and begin to come to grips with basic grammar. We also start to perfect oral communication and discuss topics which they can relate to, such as animals, the planet or the environment, as well as facing global challenges and needs. As the children advance, they increase their knowledge of English and perfect the grammar that we have worked on so far. They also begin to learn to talk about themselves and their interests.

I have the CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults), the International House Certificate in Teaching Very Young Learners and over 13 years of experience teaching English to kids and teenagers right through to adults of all levels and ages both online and face to face. I also have a bachelor’s degree in French and Spanish and a master’s degree in specialised and technical translation, so languages have always been one of my passions. And, last but not least, I’ve recently completed a post-graduate degree in psychology, which has allowed me to understand how the human mind works. In fact, teaching is all about psychology and understanding your students’ needs, adapting your teaching techniques to meet them and connecting with the pupils you have in your class. My hobbies include: nutrition, travelling and kids. I have one of my own, which probably has a lot to do with it. In 2007, I travelled five continents in 15 months, which was one of my best experiences to date and definitely one I intend to utilise in all areas of my life. I got to hike seven kilometres into the Amazon Jungle and scuba dive the Great Barrier Reef of Australia!
