Ricardo es la única persona a quien refiero los que hablan inglés y quieren aprender español. Su método de enseñanza es una combinación de rigor, a veces al borde de la tortura, y un maravilloso sentido de humor. A mí, me dio una fundación en la gramática española tan buena como la de los profesores de UCLA y la Universidad de California, Berkeley, o mejor, pero hace mucho tiempo, y por eso los errores en este párrafo son los míos debido a mi falta de memoria. Ricardo me introdujo a autores españoles como Julio Cortázar y lugares preciosos alrededor de Cuernavaca, porque él cree que el papel del maestro español es más que enseñar palabras y administrar ejercicios, pero incluye la cultura y la vida cotidiana de México. No podría cantar las alabanzas de Ricardo más, si yo fuera Virgil o Sor Juana.
Ricardo is the only person I would recommend to any English speaker wanting to learn Spanish, whether that person is visiting Cuernavaca or desires to learn the language over the Internet. His method of instruction combines rigor, at times bordering on torture, with a marvelous sense of humor. Ricardo taught me Spanish grammar as well as, if not better than, my professors at UCLA and the University of California, Berkeley. It was through Ricardo that I became familiar with such writers as Julio Cortazar and such enchanting places as Tepotzlan, because Ricardo believes that the role of a Spanish teacher is not limited to teaching words and administering exercises, but includes the culture and daily life of Mexico.
